It took decades for writing to overtake illustration as my favorite creative pursuit (frankly, almost everything I write features at least a doodle or two), but perfecting a well-crafted tale has certainly become my greatest creative obsession.

 

I write to explain, educate and entertain. 

Fictional narratives. Game dialogue. Executive statements. Style guides. Ad copy. Game design documents. Pitches. Comic strips. Novels. Screenplays. Imaginary political speeches (guilty). Observations & critiques of music, art, architecture, and sport.

 

Teaching storytelling is also one of the richest experiences of my life (certainly more successful than my volunteer attempts at coaching baseball and basketball). As one of the original tutors at Dave Eggers' 826 Valencia, I taught visual storytelling and writing workshops when 826 was a fledgling idea.
